The Original Architect of Smart RF Technology
VR-N76 Dual-Band Smart Transceiver | App-Programmable Off-Grid Comms
Download the HT App to experience all smart features before you buy.
Preview the logic of VR-N76 by exploring the app today.
When trail riding deep into the wilderness, cellular data vanishes. The VR-N76 automatically drops GPS position beacons over analog RF frequencies. Track your entire convoy’s live movements, speed, and distance completely offline via the VGC HT App—subscription-free safety for true overland autonomy.
In high-stress rescue missions, data cables and programming PCs cause critical delay. Armed with rapid hardware Frequency Sync, the VR-N76 intercepts and clones active frequencies and sub-tones wirelessly. Instantly align incoming joint reinforcement field units and establish communications under IP67 rugged conditions.
Engineered natively for the motorcycle adventure community. Dual Bluetooth 5.0 modules bridge smart mapping data to your phone while simultaneously linking with heavy-duty third-party helmet headsets and our wireless Bluetooth PTT buttons. Seamless, safe communications without breaking your driving posture.
For veteran amateur radio experts, the VR-N76 delivers a pure RF playground. Run off-grid Winlink emails and APRS.fi telemetry nodes over wireless data links using the built-in hardware KISS TNC core. Backed by dedicated aviation AM reception (108-136MHz) and automated satellite Doppler shift tracking filters.
No PC drivers, no heavy programming software. Unlock these advanced tactical operations seamlessly via Bluetooth routing on your smartphone interface.
Connect the app to completely control your radio from your smartphone screen and unlock these powerful features:
The VR-N76 breaks traditional RF boundaries. Control and modify your local radio configurations entirely over-the-air via the smart app ecosystem:
Satellite Tracking: Real-time orbital tracking for ISS and amateur satellites. Automated Doppler frequency correction through the VGC HT App ensures a perfect link during passes.
Aviation AM RX: Monitor clear air traffic and airport communications with crystal clarity using the dedicated AM receiver for the 108-136MHz aviation band.
Fully compatible with the global APRS tracker network. Drop real-time data packets without cellular coverage.
Smart Beaconing: Intelligent algorithm that automatically adjusts your location transmission interval based on your vehicle's current speed and heading changes.
BSS Digital ID: Transmits a unique digital ID after every PTT click, allowing the App to instantly display caller callsigns and real-time positioning on the map—the perfect upgrade for your off-grid overland comms fleet.
Driverless PC Sync: Bulk edit massive channels in JSON/CSV format on your computer and sync them back wirelessly via the App. Zero driver installation headaches.
Go beyond simple voice. The VR-N76 features full APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) integration. Send text messages, track your mission path, and beacon your location to the global map—even without cellular coverage.
OFF-GRID MESSAGINGEquipped with a hardware AX.25 KISS TNC. Seamlessly connect to Winlink, APRS.fi, or Packet Radio via Bluetooth. No external modems or complex wiring required—just pure, smart digital radio performance.

It's a high-speed hardware tool to scan and intercept active analog frequencies and sub-tones from nearby active radios. It allows you to match on-site settings and join communications instantly without manual entry or laptop setup.
The VR-N76 supports 192 memory channels, intelligently organized into 6 groups of 32. This structure is designed for rapid team management and mission-specific frequency categorization.
Yes. Via the smart app ecosystem, you can create a "Network Link Link Gateway" to bridge your local analog transceiver signal to digital network talkgroups, achieving worldwide communication reach.
Absolutely. The VR-N76 supports official OTA (Over-the-Air) updates. New performance optimizations and features are delivered directly through wireless Bluetooth links via the VGC HT App.
The VR-N76 is the industry-leading smart radio designed for peak performance in any environment.

There is actually an easier hidden fix: If the radio stops syncing after a phone upgrade, you just need to go into your iPhone's standard Settings -> Bluetooth, find the VR-N76 in the device list, and tap Forget This Device to completely delete its cache from the phone. After that, simply open the HT App and pair them again from scratch. Once re-paired, all the settings and data previously stored inside the radio will instantly pop right back up!
Thank you, VGC Team! Y'all are great!

The variety of features in a handheld radio are terrific.
APRS, WinLink, Satellite, USB C charging. The ease of programming the radio, using a phone app to access the various features. The IP67 water proof design. I've also suggested this radio to a few of my club members.

I would have given this radio 5 stars if it weren't for the Airband reception. Living near the border of a country at war, our local airport has become a major logistics hub for military supplies. Monitoring the Airband here has become as essential as monitoring NOAA channels in the US.
Unfortunately, the VR-N76 (at least my unit) isn't the best tool for this. At shorter distances, Airband signals constantly overload and distort. Furthermore, reception is capped at 136 MHz, even though the band extends to 137 MHz. This means I can’t program it for my local airport at 136.430 MHz. If Vero wants to market Airband as a feature, they need to address these issues via firmware AGC fixes or in a V2 model.
Overall, I’m very happy with it and highly recommend it - as long as Airband isn't your priority.

The APRS from the radio without phone is super handy.
The price is very interesting, and clearly competitive compare to other device on the market.... It's my choice # 1 for handheld now !

Can do APRS without the phone app. Having multiple options like APRS/SSTV/Morse decode in the app is great tho.
Some of the features are still a little bit hard to use.
I wish there was an option to scan the frequencies with 1 button pressed, like on Baofeng/Quansheng etc... For now this option is only available for saved frequencies and I don't see them on the screen while it scans (just showing Scanning ).
APRS can be a little tedious on the keyboard cause the 1st press of the keys on the keypad will input the number and not the letter, which is the opposite of everything we had back in 2000's with the first phones (ex: you press the ABC key to get B : you need to press 3 times instead of 2 cause is goes like 1 then A then B ).
APRS messages on the phone NEED to have a To field with the following syntax:
callsign-to-send-the-message-to:message
Ex:
AB123:This is a message.
If you don't specify a recipient/contact/target/callsign then the message is scrambled/gibberish in other apps and does not have the correct format.
I'm unsure for the Reply function when using the radio to respond to a message tho. Could be mandatory (but I don't see why it would...).
The battery lasts for days, which is great for long way trip. Onboard GPS is working fine, you need to move a little bit sometimes to get a signal.
Of the bad point is your Saved Frequencies . It's split in packs of 16 channels per groups and you need to switch groups manually if you want to scan all saved frequencies, which is annoying if you want to quickly scan 50+ frequencies for example.
Regarding the UI on the radio it's simple and easily readable even under direct sunlight.
It would be awesome to have a spectrum analyzer like the one on the custom Quansheng firmware by aarmel (see attached screen).
A very good all around analog radio still! I hope the next firmware updates will add more features.
