Expert Support & FAQ

Q1: Which radio models are compatible with the BHM-79?

The BHM-79 offers extensive cross-platform compatibility. It is fully native with the entire VGC N-Series (such as VR-N76 handhelds and VR-N7600 / VR-N7500 mobile radios) and supports the BTECH PRO Series (e.g., UV-Pro).

ICOM Compatibility: Verified on the ICOM IC-705 and ID-52 series. Additionally, referencing the coverage of accessories like the ProEquip PRO-BT560 (compatible with ID-52E, IC-A120E, IC-F5400D/F6400D) and given that most Bluetooth-equipped ICOM models share the standard HFP/HSP protocol, the BHM-79 is expected to deliver PTT and audio functions across other ICOM Bluetooth transceivers (e.g., ID-31/51/50, IC-7100, ID-4100/5100/5200, IC-9700, IC-905, IC-A25, etc.). Note: As not all ICOM models have been individually tested, we recommend verifying compatibility by trial when using with untested units.

Q2: Does the BHM-79 support OTA firmware updates?

Yes. Unlike traditional microphones, the BHM-79 can be updated wirelessly via the HT App. This ensures your device always has the latest audio optimizations and feature enhancements.

Q3: What is the main advantage of BHM-79 over BHM-88?

The BHM-79 is focused on Tactical Blind Operation. Its lightweight design (115g) and physical channel buttons make it ideal for drivers or operators who need to switch channels by feel. The BHM-88 is better suited for users who need a visual data dashboard for APRS.

Q4: Can I use it as a Bluetooth speaker?

Yes! The BHM-79 can pair with your smartphone to stream music or handle phone calls. When a call comes in, simply press the P0 key to answer, all while staying connected to your radio network.

When used with an IC-705, pairing involves a few steps, but if any difficulties arise, customer support responds quickly and helps resolve the issues.
Otherwise, it is a very good wireless microphone that is convenient to use.

The best bluetooth mic to use with my 7500. All other I try barely goes beyond 10 ft. But this one works beyond expectations!

If you want something for long range of bluetooth. It's this one you need.
